Title: new member from Hong Kong
Post by: simonhk on April 04, 2018, 07:42:18 AM
Hi All,
I have several 2 strokes and have just been offered a 1966 175DT, I have been told it was running when it was imported from Japan 18months ago. It has been used very little and now is running poorly on one cylinder, I am hoping its just a carb clean, new plugs and ignition timing set up. But worst case what else could I expect?  Any help and guidance very much appreciated.

You've covered the things I'd recommend to start with.  There are a number of possibilities beyond that, but don't worry too much yet.  Clean the point contacts when you're checking the timing. The spark is pretty weak at best on these old ignition systems.
