WHAT WAS YOUR WORST ELECTRICAL NIGHTMARE?
« on: August 18, 2010, 03:35:05 PM »
What was your worst,or most elusive electrical problem. Any UFO's or errant lightning balls? (kidding)  Thanks,Mark.

Mark, were you really kidding?
Back in the early 80s I was riding the GTR and had my sister on the back end while my brother was on his motorcycle a few yards behind me.
We were only a few miles away from home when a small thunderstorm was getting very close.
A flash of lightning hit the hillside not more than a 1/4 mile away, and as it did I felt a spark from the clutch handle hit my left hand.
That's when I figured I was having a lucky day!

I figure any other electrical problems can be solved with time or money.

Holy Smoke! (only slight pun intended) Your story reminds me of standing in our friends milking parlor on thier farm when it was storming. You could feel lightning striking in the distance through the wet floor and equipment. So could the cows. Thanks Smokey,Mark.

I grew up in the world of British Sport Cars, my father used to buy and sell them.  As I grew older, I ended up as the one who fixed they for him!  ;D The LUCAS systems in those cars
were always known to be trouble. Most of the problems we had were centered around other people doing poor repairs, therefore
causing major problems.  I remember that Healey 3000 with all that smoke coming out of the dash!

Hey Lucas fans, just think Bentley/R.R. '58 S. Whats the name of this topic again? The last part of the project was fitting an original radio. I think the only thing not Lucas. Had to make a new enclosure under the dash with modern upgraded speaker. All done and no sound. Forgot you have to wait for the tubes to warm up!  A lot of Lucas components are serviceable, unfortunately it is also their downfall. Double edged sword. Got a Midget in the shop now,it's my fathers. It will need a set of rocker panels. Any leads Richard , Reed  ? Let me know,Mark.

Hey Reed,I employed that same supression system on a "69 Mercury we ran in the woods. Fire extinguishers are for sissy's. (until you need one!)

Just one thing we all work on are motorcycles in the workshop with fuel gas petrol in the tanks.
Make sure that you have fire extinguishers in YOUR WORKSHOPS THAT WORK!
Thanks.
Reed.

Being familiar with Lucas components, you've probably got a couple of these around, but maybe some of the other members on here aren't aware they're available:
