Hi all
Been repairing my broken sports shifter shaft that must have been hit by a snapped chain.checking the gear train for selection and smoothness i noticed every now and again it would snag whilst in neutral.on closer inspection i found 2 damaged gears.bent teeth and cracking at the base of the teeth.so i sourced another gearbox.came from USA to England in 6 days amazing.but theres a difference between the 2 gearboxes.the 5th gear and drive shaft have 3 drive lugs and cutouts for 5th gear selection.but my replacement gear cluster didnt have the cutouts on 5th gear and no drive lugs on the drive shaft any attempt to select 5th gear just put it into neutral.all was not lost however as i made a good gear cluster out of the 2 .can anyone explain the different gearboxes.both were supposedly from a 1966 175 DT.
