KAWASAKI Z1 900 1973.

Kawasaki z1 900.
I had a set of Kawasaki z1 carbs sent to me for cleaning, and i found out that the motorcycle had not been run for thirty years.
The carbs are in bad condition the slides were stuck and some one had used a screw driver to try and move the slides etc.
So after talking to the owner that had the Kawasaki from new he would bring the motorcycle down to my workshop to get
Running and clean it up,this is a job i am looking forward too, and i will get the Z1 next week and i will take pictures and maybe a
Video when i first get it going after thirty years of not being used.

Kawasaki Z1 900.
The Kawasaki 900 arrived today in my workshop, needs some work new points plugs intake rubbers oil and filter valve clearances
And then i will check the brakes and tires plus i have new h-bars and grips plus cables etc.

Man, that looks just like my old bike. Back in 78, I had a 53 Chevy pickup with a hot cammed 350 out of a Z28 for sale. A guy rode up on the Kawasaki and took the truck for a test drive down the road and I never saw him again. Super fast bikes, thanks for postin the picture.

This one's got Reed written all over it. Same mufflers as on my '74-A. It will be the biggest expense in getting mine back to factory. Seems to have been a popular accessory. You also had to do it to use side bags/boxes. At least I have the originals that were cleanly removed. Putting them back together is easy enough. Its the rechroming that kicks the expense in. I know you will do a nice job getting it cleaned up Steve. Have fun on this one.  Mark.

The carbs are done i am waiting for a cam gasket and intake boots, valves clearance are set.
This is a picture of the owners manual parts  and shop manuals very rare indeed.

The original bar grips on the Kawasaki Z1 900, are the same as on the Bridgestone GTR 350.

I put all the new parts on the Z1 and give it a good clean, i just need to put the carbs on and fit new front  brake seals.
Then we are ready to run the motorcycle etc.

  Hey Steve    I Wint Through The Carbs But It Has No Spark   I Did Not Know How Dignose It   I Got A Used Box From Another Bike That Ran Yesterday To Try   Hope It Salves The Problem   Utherwise I Also Got The Generator Asembly   So I Should Get It To Run    I Know They Were Fast When I Was A Kid    It Was A Ble To Out Run My 350 GTR In High School   Ill Take Some Photos   PS  I Was Imprested With You Line Up Of 350s On THe Other Post     GENE

Since you have a Z1 handy, do the Kawasaki's points really interchange with the BS 350?

Yes, the Kawasaki Z1 points will work on some Bridgestone GTR 350 it depends on the Bridgestone dynamo there two types for the GTR.
So one takes a different set of points.

Steve, are you saying the Z1 has 2 different type dynamo's or are you talking about the Bridgestones? Sorry, your wording has me a little confused.

The dynamo is where the points are look at page 10 in your parts book and you will see what i mean etc.

I'm quite familiar with what a dynamo is, but what I hadn't heard is that the 350's had 2 different types.

I'm also not sure what you want me to look at on page 10 in the parts catalogue, as it shows only 1 part # for the dynamo, 1# for the right breaker, 1# for the left breaker and 1# for the condenser. Nothing I saw suggests that there is any other type.

So I guess my question is, what other type dynamo is there for the GTR/GTO?

Pictures maybe?
