Hi All,
Did everyone in the snow storms path survive all right? I am sure our Tenn. N.C. Va. and east coast friends are glad it is over.

We got about 20" of snow. Add in 40 mph wind gusts and crazy drifting. I'll be putting some serious hours on my snowblower.

Western NC received 8-10" on the east side of the Smokies.  The south end of the county, in the valley, got about twice as much.  Supposed to warm to the mid 40's today but, refreeze tonight.  Should make for icy roads tomorrow.  I'm glad I'm retired.

Backin the 1970s you could  buy a device with tank/bulldozer treads that mounted to the  rear of your motorbike. You removed the rear wheel and replaced it with the tread mechanism. Then you replaced the front wheel with a single ski. Then you drove off into the snow storm.

Back in the 70's life was less complicated and stuff like that was appealing and fun. Nowdays, someone with no business even attempting to install and ride that contraption would install it incorrectly, get all mangled up due to their own stupidity, sue the company and drive them out of business.

I saw an old automobile that converted into something similar. Ski's strapped to the front wheels and a track on a rear wheel setup.

Today such a device would never get all the required safety approvals and OBTW, why not just buy a snowmobile?
