Possible Good Find on a GTR
« on: December 07, 2012, 04:48:16 PM »
I'm kinda excited about a recent find as far as I can be excited. A friend of mine has found what seems to be a gold mine of vintage bikes. He has procured a number of Hodakas, Bultacos, Ossas, Yamahas, Hondas, and Kawasakis from what he says is a Motorcycle graveyard. The guy is acting funny, only selling a few at a time and then calling back when he needs more money. My friend says he can't wait until the guy lets him see the better ones stored in the barn. He has minimum knowledge of bikes. Anyway, I paid my friend a visit today to consider what he had and in a pile of assorted parts there was a GTR side cover. After explaining to him what it was, he said the rest of the bike had to be there too, he would just have to locate it. I'm hoping it is there and maybe more, since he seems to have multiples of everything. Maybe there is one in the barn. He's makin another trip next week and hopefully he'll be bringin a GTR along with a 305 SuperHawk. All I can do is wait.

Coxy, I don't think this guy would let him take any pictures. I really think he hates to sell because after loadin the trailer he's in a rush to get my friend out of there acting angry about the whole thing. But he keeps callin back when he needs money. I just hope he doesn't shut down sales before we get in the barn.

Aero, email me contact info, I think I saw an early 70's CL90 in the group. I think it's gonna take several months, at the rate this deal is goin, to
sift through this find. I'm gonna try to work my way into makin a trip in there myself but I believe my friend doesn't want to reveal his honey hole yet. He knows me too well. ;D

No, I had to do a 5 day job to go to, so that's the reason I posted it so some other member might have an opportunity. I would have loved to have it but I didn't quite have the time to go to NC and do the job also. I hope someone here got it. Thanks, Dave

On this subject on motorcycles going out of the USA i would sell a Bridgestone to a enthusiast, but there a lot of dealers out there
That want too buy Motorcycles, but i want to know where the Bridgestone is going, but that's just me its a free world and you can sell
To anyone, i had a 1973 Porsche 911 and it was mint with 53000 miles on the clock and a German enthusiast found out about the car
And kept calling me and i was in the market for a newer 911 and i let it go and on the way to Germany the ship had a fire and the car
Burnt up in flames and to this day i wished i had never sold the car but that's life so i just wanted to clear this matter up.
Thanks.
Steve.

It's been 2 months now and my friend still hasn't made it back to the honey hole! Good news though, after houndin" him every week, he's invited me to go with him this weekend! He gave me the GTR side cover. Hope I find the rest of the bike there. Other items I'm interested in that he has are a Puch, a small Moto Guzzi, a Simplex motor, BSA bikes, and a SuperHawk. He doesn't want me to show any interest in any of the bikes. He said if I see somethin I want just say " What's this crazy lookin bike?" and he'll buy it. The guy is really strange about these bikes. We'll see how it pans out.

Hey Bikenstein,

If you can, please keep a look out for a Kawasaki B8...he sounds like just the right sort of guy who might have one! I'm struggling with my restoration as I'm in need of parts which are seemingly impossible to find. Here's hoping...

Thanks,
Steve
