photos of gas tank after cleaning
« on: June 06, 2009, 12:49:41 PM »
I have uploaded photos to "my gallery" of several things, but they also include photos of the GTR tank after the 24 hour acid soak. Note disclaimer that the tank shown "with rust" is not the same tank after being cleaned. My rechargeable camera batteries were dead when I was ready to start cleaning it. I have a second gas tank that was similar to what I started with, so I've shown it for a benchmark. I would recommend trying a similar phosphoric acid solution before buying and using any coating system (Kreem, POR, etc...). I think most of those will include the acid too, but if the acid does the job well enough alone, then tell yourself that you'll always keep fresh, clean gas in the tank once it's on the road again.
