Bridgestone shifting

I have a 69 200 RS...can someone explain the shifting of the transmission to me?

The short answer is that it is a 5-speed return shift (neutral on top) with the selector lever in one position and a 4 speed rotary shift with the selector lever in the other position.

Just a personal opinion. I think it was wonderful when shift patterns for all motorcycles was standardized. It would be nice to change the neutral to the standard position between 1st and 2nd.

I agree too, having the shifting the same is better, as I have had bikes with different patterns, really best
the have todays standard.  I too like  neutral in between 1st and 2nd. I also like having the brakes on the right
side too.

Does any one know if this is standard today too?

Standards are good for many things and I'm used to the current pattern these days, but I've always prefered the 6 down of the 350 GTR.

I reversed my 350GTR to 6 up years ago to keep from confusing myself when switching bikes with more modern bikes.  I don't mind Neutral on bottom, but it is pretty easy to downshift through low into N by accident.  However, it is also very easy to find N when you want it.
