Hello from Ohio
« on: August 20, 2011, 07:26:10 PM »
I got my first bike today. It is a Bridgestone BS 350 GTR. I am going to learn how to ride with this bike. My other half has a Harley. We are considering restoring this bike, but are a little worried about the cost. We are looking for any helpful info...like what year it was made...but I am excited!  ;D Thanks!

Welcome Ohio,
I am from Findlay,Oh. originally and road these bikes when they were new. The kart shop I raced for sold them so I always rode a new one. They are great and I am sure you will enjoy the restoration and thrill of riding one when finished. Most parts are pretty easy to come by and reasonable to purchase. Richard the owner of this site has many NOS parts for them. You will find many people on the site willing to help you with info. I am currently restoring three gtr's and a gto of my own. Just finished a gto which went to N.C. Pictures on the site. Hope you enjoy the bike. Good luck.

Welcome to BS ownership.
The VIN tag should be on the frame a little aft of the oil tank. Go to the Serial ID Number Guide section to find some guidelines to figure out when your GTR was made.

Well, we figured out that the bike was constructed in August of 1967...according to the serial number...it was 1,935th one made. My other half started to tear it down today. I hope that once we have a list of parts, we will be able to afford to get it restored.  :)

Cost is all going to depend on what you want as a finished project.  The nicer you want it, the more it is going to cost.  Any way you look at it, it is not cheap for the common man or women to restore a bike!

But you will always have something special though.  You definitely have better options and cheaper ways to learn how to ride.  I would find another cheaper and newer bike to learn on and take your time restoring the GTR.  Remember a 1967 bike is an antique and MAY not always the best option for an everyday rider unless you are a mechanic with cash and time on your hands.

You will enjoy that bike if you don't try to rush it.  Every one has a Harley!!!    Good luck.
