Does the end of the throttle cable (s) go through the center of the throttle slide spring, or to the side? The slot that holds the end of the cable is off to the side of the slide, so it seems to make sense it runs outside of the spring. Chalk my lack of knowing due to not remembering order of assembly and/or deprepitude! Thanks in advance!

The cable runs through the center of the spring. It has to be installed through the slot on the side, but ends up near the center (needle is in the actual center). To install the cable, put it down the inside of he spring. To get it outside the slide to engage the slot, you have to compress and pull the spring up out of the slide.

A bit easier on the 175 as the throttle slides have a groove in them to thread the cable

Sorry, I was a bit confused, thinking of the wrong carbs. ::)

If you have placed the spring seat (# 4 in the parts list) correctly at the bottom of the throttle slide, it is not possible to install the throttle cable incorrectly! So the cable runs outside the spring.
If you remove the 2 set screws from the carb. cover (# 6), be careful not to mount the cable adjuster (# 8) in place of the trottle stoprod screw (# 11)!

erniegroen: So just to be clear: the cable does run oustside of the spring?
Thanks for the tips, all!

Yes! Read my earlier post carefully and you will see why!
