Interesting seller comment on the Ebay GTO
« on: March 04, 2012, 11:24:01 AM »
Looks like he was getting offers to end the auction early.(Good thing he didn't)   Same thing with the recent GTR auction out of MI, which ended early.

For you newer members looking for a 350, I recommend you don't wait too long.  Good luck!

This is just my personal opinion and is directed more at the buyers and not the seller, but that is an insane amount considering the condition of the paint, chrome, etc.

I'm happy to see the prices rising on these and even happier to have found mine when I did!  ;D

Hey Moonpup,
I think the price will go higher yet. The paint is not that important to  a lot of people. Not everyone want a restored bike. It is just like classic cars, they are only original once. Finding bikes in nice unrestored condition is hard. Car's now that are unrestored original paint etc. are bringing as much as total frame off restorations. Just my two cents worth. I really like unrestored stuff.
Later Mike

Hi Mike,

Have to agree with you on your comments. Was considering biding myself but had to hold back as I think I have enough on !!

I see Savoy Cycles have two GTO's on their site.

later and I'll let someone else have the pleasure ... ray

It's been incredibly frustrating for someone trying to purchase their first GTR - auctions ending early, no response from seller on craigslist, high prices.  Any suggestions?  Been attempting to purchase one since last year.

Keep watching this classified as they are usually listed on here quickly after being posted on Craigslist.

Unfortunately your not the only one watching for them so be quick with your call and dealing.  Always nice to see a new member get one.  Good luck to you.

I am startled at the sale.  I anticipated an end from $5-6k.

Mike Anderson I think you have it right. This bike is an amazing quality original that IMHO should be preserved as it is- 1405 miles on the clock and I got it at 1365.  The bike is going to Australia.

Because the bike did so well I have contacted the person that sold me the bike and I am going to give him a piece of this sale.  I am happy to do this because I feel lucky to have found it, enjoyed bringing it back to life, got to ride it a bit (40 miles) and generally it will make me feel even better to make his day with some more cash... pays my good karma forward a bit too!

Cheers-

tim

About a year ago I saw a  restored GTR on offer for $6500.00 out of England. So $8200+ for this seems a bit much? But, as the sayin goes, "whatever the market wil bear..."

Hi Guys,

It has been awhile since the GTO headed overseas.... the new owner still has not received it yet but as long as the shipping was smooth he will be very pleased.  I am happy to report that the person that sold it to me was very excited to hear about the sale and even more excited to accept a check for some additional money back to him since it all went so well...

You may recall that I found this GTO when I went to buy an American Eagle A7....  These bikes were coming out of a storage unit stacked full of bikes and parts from the sellers father's old dealer inventory.  This helps to explain why the bikes are such low mileage and why there are several.  Well, long story short, most of the bikes were smaller off brand dirt bikes and were sold in a lump to someone else. However, there are a 3 more Bridgestones there and since I did right by the seller I have first crack at the remaining bikes.  I have no grand illusions that I will see the same kind of return as I was lucky enough to get on the GTO but I am trying to get a sense of what to pay for them.  That said, I thought I would ask here what some of you would guess at value on the following bikes...

Year unknown Bridgestone Dual Twin 175.  2286 miles, top end is open but reported to be in good shape. Not sure if all parts are present.
Is this a 1966 Bridgestone DT175???

Year unknown Chibi Blue with the motor out - motor may or may not be included.

Year unknown Chibi Delux Red missing some parts but appears to be NOS.

As you can see all of them are 2 inches deep in dust, pitted and will require some assembly just to get to complete.

Any opinions appreciated!

Cheers-

tim

Not a whole   lot in the U.S. in that condition.

If your going to sell them for him as a favor, tell him you will split whatever you can get.  May be best to sell them as a lot.

Still seeking the information requested!

Anybody with direct experience buying or selling a BS 175 or Chibi Delux?  I would love to know what the general range of value is on this pair...  otherwise I am shooting in the dark!

Cheers-

Maybe you could check out the classifieds on this site and see what sellers are asking for similar bikes.
