I wonder if anyone can solve a mystery for me. I've read a photocopied article from a Japanese magazine on the history of Bridgestone, which includes some interesting year-by-tear and model-by-model production figures. According to the article, for instance, Bridgestone built a total 599,828 motorcycles of all types - I wonder how many there are around now!
The article says that only 7,800 BS200s were built, and the other figures suggest that this is probably correct. I keep an informal checklist of serial numbers which helps me to work out the manufacture date of any particular machine, and my problem is that my list says there was a BS200 with a serial number of "23T-10359", which certainly doesn't tie in with a maximum production of only 7800.
Trouble is, I can't remember where I got this particular number from, except that it was probably a long time ago.
My question is, has anyone out there got a BS200 with a frame or serial number higher than "7800"? (Beware of the frame number stamped on the steering headstock, though, as some BS200s were built using surplus frames already stamped up as 175's - these have frame numbers TA1-37***. True BS200 frames will have "TA2-****" frame numbers.)
I'm sure someone out there has the answer!
