Somewhere there is mention of BS bikes 1970 onward having the dates stamped on the rivet plate on the steering neck. I'm sure you'll find that as well.
I have the same model as you and am having some i.d. issues as well. Mine is a 1971 MK II/RS produced in November 1970. The weird thing is that in the service manual I received from the owner, it indicates a 175cc engine was installed in 1980; however, the stamp on crank indicates it is a 200. I'm not sure if the 175 top end could be dropped into the 200 lower end though. Anyway, not your problem but hopefully the document I pointed you to can help solve your mystery.
