Spark Plugs
« on: May 03, 2014, 06:15:11 PM »
Hi... New guy here. Picked up a couple GTR's in the last few years and decided to try and see if I could get the most complete one to run. What is the best spark plug for these? Also no key. Thinking it's possible to maybe jumper some wires at the switch to bypass. If so...which? Thanks for your time.

Contact Richard the site owner for keys. He has most of them. The number is on the face of the switch for the key. No need to jump anything if your wiring is  intact.

Thanks guys. Didn't know how long it would take to get a key and was wanting to try and get it running in the next couple days. Just thinking of bypassing the switch to check for spark.

raymire59,
I agree with Mike there is no need to jump anything with the wiring etc when keys are so easy to buy from Richard.
On the plugs i use NGK all the time in all my motorcycles and my cars.
Thanks.
Steve.

There's a blue wire that provides power from the ignition switch to the brake light, horn, ignition, etc.  You should be able to access it under the seat. Just connect a wire from the positive side of the battery to the blue wire wherever you can find it and you should have spark.

The schematic is in the 350 service manual downloadable from this site.

Thanks again guys. Guess I should have been more clear about bypassing the switch. Was just a temporary thing to see if it had spark. Getting with richard tomorrow about replacement keys.

What model/type NGK spark plug cap should be used with NGK B7HS plug?  The cap on one of my 90's is missing.  Thanks, mqtsteve

Steve,
The NGK number for your plug cap are LBO5F and they come in red or black.
Thanks.
Steve Reed.

Reed, thanks for the info.  I looked at the guide, wasn't sure how to read it for the caps.  Thank you, mqtsteve
