This is a picture of a right side cylinder from a salvage engine I have. Wanted to save as much as possible, wristpin bearings etc. so had to scrap a cylinder. Hard to do, but necessary.

Just weld it back together. :D With the piston that low, you couldn't take the wrist pin and bearing out first?

No, crank is frozen up so nothing would rotate. No choice.
Thanks Mike

Oh, I see. I knew you were smarter than that. I guess you were lucky the piston was in a low position. Thanks for the interesting picture.

Mike,
Put the parts in a box and send it back to Bridgestone and see if you can get some warranty  ;D .
Thanks.
Steve.

You void the warranty when you cut a cylinder in half, Steve. >:(   I didn't know the casting was so thick above the exhaust port. Or is that just aluminum folded over during the cut?

Nice chop job!!   ;D

Better than one I have that someone just torched the rod.

Are the bearings that let the crank shaft spin in the cases available?  Jeff Bar

Jeff.  The 350 main bearings are available at bearing stores.  Not much of an issue with this, however the large metal seal between the rods in center of the crank may be another story.  I got one some time back from Richard.  I do not know if he still have them.  Luke

Mike, you can remove the cylinder studs which permits you to tap some threads in two of the cylinder stud tunnels opposed.
Two sections of threaded rod can then be installed, a stout steel bar drilled to span them and then two nuts to pull it down.
In effect you turn the cylinder into a press.
I use a wooden dowel (contoured on one end to caress the piston) just a bit smaller than the piston along with spacers to take up the ever expanding space as you drive the piston down. Along with ATF/Acetone loosener and a bit of heat from a propane torch now and again, it has never failed.

1. Pull the head off.
2. Place a M80 on top of the piston.
3. Put the head back on and carefully fish the fuse out through the spark plug hole.
4. Loosely put the cylinder stud nuts back on.
5. Give a cigarette lighter to the cat and show him the fuse.
6. Run like crazy.

This never works but it gives the cat something to do.

Hey Mike... you do know that they sell new motorcycles don't you??
I have a tilt wheel for more headroom!
