350 Shift Levers
« on: December 05, 2011, 02:25:46 PM »
Are the shift levers different between the GTR & GTO models?

In the parts manual, I could only find one part number for the shift lever and the photo of it and the one currently on my GTO match the one in the first picture below. The second picture has a part number on it that I would think is GTO specific, but I can't find it in the manual.

If there are 2 different ones, why would there be a need, since there aren't any differences in that particular area between the 2 models?

I think the second picture is the right hand conversion shifter which was offered as an option.        John

Hell if I know, but here is my thought.

The GTO was more likely to be taken off road more often as a Scrambler, so the other lever may be easier to shift when having a boot on?

Sorry Sno Jet but as of now, I think I'm leaning towards whitegto's answer.

However, I do like your....."Hell if I know"  ;D

I think when the R/H shifter was used on a GTR/GTO the biggest difference is the kickstart lever and LONG rear brake cable for the left side.  I have never seen what the kickstart lever looks like, but its a different part no.     cheers John

just a thought if your legs are wider apart  sitting on the gto because of the high pies wouldn't a wider shift and brake be more comfortable
