GTR 350 Oil Injection Sticker Locations
« on: October 13, 2010, 01:48:02 PM »
Can someone give me the dimensions from the Knob hole to the bottom of sticker on left cover and from center of oil window to bottom of sticker for oil tank. I forgot to measure mine before sending to paint. These locations should come from an unrestored bike or covers. I'm sure the locations varied a little from the factory but would get me close.

On the oil tank mine is 2 1/2 inches from the window to the bottom of the sticker measured straight up.

On the right side cover measuring from the base of the knob straight up to the sicker it is 1 3/8 inches.

This is on the one bike I have that has original paint and decals and everything is there. It should be close.

OK... let's see if I can figure this picture stuff out. I don't see any smoke, so that's a good thing......

Like I said, I don't think this particular bike has been repainted, so I'm going to guess it is original.

The other two I have.... one has had the decals and the 350 GTR plaque removed and the other bike has been repainted so all bets are off on those. The one bike that has been repainted has the "Oil Injection" sticker only on the oil tank, so if they put it back they way it was after the repaint I guess that may be correct?? That bike I believe is a '69. The original paint bike is a '67. Maybe they quit putting two stickers on the bikes after '67???? I dunno....

You know.... now that I am looking at it, I think the side cover looks a little "busy" with the "Oil Injection" sticker below the 350GTR plaque. Since we have no Concours committee I almost think I would leave it off of that side.

Tom I agree with you, I will be leaving the sticker off the battery side. I believe the 2 sticker option was for the 67 model only. They must of realized the cover looks better with the GTR emblem only.
Thanks

Sorry for being so quiet lately besides work being the devil I came down with the flue. So with my bike 70/71
the bat cover and oil tank has only a " 350 " round sticker, the bat cove has dimples where one could drill and add a " 350 GTR " badge on. I have been wondering why my stone did not come with the " Oil Injection " sticker, I have been in possession of the bike for 15 years, and not sure how long the original owner had it stored for in the garage " none opp ". He did say this bike was in the show room and did stand apart from the rest ( paint color, two rear view mirrors, four reflectors , and the stickers ). Maybe they just dressed the bikes a little different here and there  ???
          Thanks

That would be a plan for sure , But it would have to wait for the need to have the painted parts redone, except for a scratch on the upper ledge of the bat  cover they look too good to bother with. I just got off the phone with Richard ( finally   :D ) and ordered a bunch of parts and gaskets just as a first step.
Next time when I order the pistons and rings I will have him through the stickers and badge in to, well here is two shots of the oil/bat cover  parts
      Thanks

I think your covers are way to nice to repaint, I like saying "they are only original once"

Beautiful machine, wish it was mine.

Thanks for the comments guys, I sure will let the original paint "Ride" for now. Maybe I will put the "Oil Injection " sticker on my lawn tractor because it sure smokes like it is  ;D
