Title: Portland Swap Meet results.
Post by: Old BS Guy on April 15, 2016, 12:57:49 AM
Just a brief note on Portland. First & foremost; it didn't rain, ever! beautiful 75-85 degree days. I only ended up taking one bike, my '65 Sport 60. Sold it for $900. Not a huge amount of vintage bikes in the specified vintage bike spaces. A few more outside. An overpriced Velocette 500, a Simplex chassis that sold before I could get my wallet out, a small Matchless, and a handful of Honda's and Triumphs. The event was well attended, as usual, and thousands of vendors. Put a sign on the bike and walked the entire meet this year. Took 2 days. Ended up buying 2 bikes from private sellers outside the meet. A one owner '75 Kawasaki 500 H1F Mach III, needing paint and clean up. Also an '82 Yamaha 650 Turbo Seca. I'll probably paint it as well, but it's super straight, and came with another complete parts bike. Most importantly, dirt cheap. No major mechanical issues. The 82 year old owner decided to hang it up. Just needs fuel system stuff. Back home and hoping to have my 200 RS on it's feet and cackling by this weekend. Can't wait to start the H1F. They have that distinctive spine tingling sound.
