That's neat Steve, but I still prefer the 350 GTO, also built for only 2 years with approximately 1500 built.  ;D

Glad I'm not the only one who hadn't heard of fuji seimitsu..???
Reading the chart further...looks like this is the first Bridgestone logo bike, but built by another OEM (fuji seimitsu).
Steve, was this another company?...

Hi, Bert,

Fuji Siemitsu Kogyo (translates as "Fuji Precision Engineering Company", I think) was a separate firm that Bridgestone awarded a contract to build their original "Clip on" bicycle motors - the BS21, BS31 and BS41 "Bambi" units. I gues that at that time BS didn't have the facility to build their own engines. When BS developed the "Champion 1" as their first complete powered two-wheeler, they carried on with the existing arrangement with Fuji until their own Motorcycle factory was ready to start production.

I don't think their was any other connection between Fuji and Bridgestone, other than as a temporary contractor.

Perhaps Kotaro-san knows a little more about this stage of the BS story, living a little closer to the action?

I had read somewhere that Prince Motors/Prince Motor Cars built the Clip-on engines. This was supposedly the same Prince Motors that was purchased by Nissan. I think I have read that Prince Motors was personally financed/bankrolled by Mr. Bridgestone.

This is the stuff that keeps me coming back here (everyday) to learn more and more about Bridgestones, but also other makes.
Steve, I love them all. Big, small...anything with 2 wheels...(not a trike guy...at alll...;-)
I have to admit that I need to study Graham's work more completely...

I'm surprised that Bridgestone built only 10,200 GTRs/GTOs. Even Kawasaki, hardly the biggest of the Japanese manufacturers, built more than twice as many A7s over the same period. Still, I bet several European manufacturers would have been delighted to have built (and sold) 10,000 of a single type. The BSA A75 Rocket-3 is but one example, with only some 5,000 being built.
