Help with the Choke
« on: July 09, 2011, 04:17:30 PM »
Hey I have 90% of my Bridgestone complete and road ready but I cannot seem to get the choke adjusted to where I trust the bike to crank if I ride it somewhere and let it sit and cool down. (Like sitting all day while I'm at work) I can crank it every time with some ether but that's kind of ridiculous to have to remove carb covers everytime I want to crank it. Can y'all give me some pointers as to how to best adjust the choke? Thanks,
Joseph

I'd be careful with ether, it washes lubricant off the cylinder walls

Young gun
Look at the front of the carb and check if the choke passage is blocked and if its clear
See if you can see the choke move up and down in the passage, and the choke is on in
The up position.
Thanks.
Steve.

Have you checked the small choke et in the bottom of the float chamber? Take the loat chamber cover off and invert it. There is a cylindrical chamber at teh back where the choke tube attached to teh main carb body fits. At the bottom of that chamber is a tint brass jet which can block up. Try applying an air line to the top of the cylindricasl chamber - that might dislodge any blockage. Otherwise, look at the botom of the cylinrical chamber and you'l see where the brass jet feeds from the main float chamber. Try poking it with a thin, stiff piece of wire. I use a pricker supplied for clearing jets in camping gas stoves.

Alternatively, just try fitting another Float chamber complete!.

Hope te helps,

Graham
