MOTORCYCLE LIFT.

MOTORCYCLE LIFTS.
Harbor freight tools are selling the motorcycle lift again.
They will hold a 1000lb capacity great to work on your
Bridgestone at a level height etc.
Thanks.
Steve.

I'll second that. Great lift for the price. I wouldn't throw a full dressed Goldwing on it but I have had some pretty decent sized bikes on mine. No problems.

I have been considering one of these recently.
I have friend who has one, although he rarely has made use of it.
It currently has a '75 Yamaha RD 350 strapped to it in need of an engine rebuild.
I think its pretty fair value for the money.
Most other lifts a home DIYer can buy run in the $600-1,000 range.

Actually, right now the HF lift is an even better deal.
Several bike magazine have sales coupons from Harbor Freight for the MC lifts.
The coupon is good for $200, which puts the pricing @ $299.99.
No one is ever going to buy a 1000 pound lift for less than that.....even used.
As an example I found $200 coupons in the March/April 2011 Motorcycle Classics issue, and the June 2011 issue of Motorcyclist.
I've seen the coupons elsewhere in other motorcycle publications.

Maybe this thread will get my rear in gear about this.
I've been so occupied with my dad the last week, I can't even get my yard mowed....

i bought small   a lift for around $200 rated at 600kg at a local hardware store all you had to hook up on it was the hydrolic pump i put my yam rd400 roller on it which was just freshly powder coated i didn't tie it down and the next morning i went out to the shed to find it lying on its side with a big chunk taken out of the frame when the bike crashed to the ground and hit my tool box  .the manufactures had put the safety stays on back to front .i haven't had a problem with it since but i am not game to put the bridgestones on it.             made in china

coxy,

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. That doesn't sound like a fun thing to walk out and find the next morning. One hell of a bad way to start the day......
No G'day that day.

The operating instructions for the Harbor Freight lift specifically state, "Secure load with appropriate restraint device".
I would guess any motorcycle lift instruction manual says the same thing.
C'est la vie.
The most important thing (some solace being offered) is that you weren't bent over doing something in the space between the lift and motorcycle and your tool box when the load decided to displace itself somewhere else.
If you had been in an inappropriate location, you might be in a hospital bed or maybe not writing about this incident.

Experience is a great teacher.
Experience can also provide the opportunity not to repeat past errors.
Looks like you have been given that opportunity.

Regards,
Steve

I bought the "high lift" motorcycle lift from Harbor Freight. It was also made by central hydraulics. Raises bike to 30 inches. I was able to get it at 20% off with free shipping about a month ago. 140 bucks total to my door and no more bending down!
