THE WEATHER IN THE STATES.
« on: January 06, 2014, 08:39:58 PM »
The weather in the States.
I have lived in the States for about 14 years and i am still not use to the temperature's the way they go up and down.
Like today we are at 14 and by tomorrow -3 that's cold for Virginia and i know its colder in other parts of the States.
Plus its hard to keep the workshop warm i am already looking forward  to warmer weather anyway stay warm.
Thanks.
Steve.

Watch the movie 2012 - I think that's where we are headed with these crazy weather patterns.

Im in Pennsylvania. It was 60 degrees last night with heavy rain. Now its closing in on single digits again.

I had a tub of degreaser in the garage. 1 gallon of Zep diluted with 3 gallons of water. Went to get the part out I had soaking the last few days. Had to break 3 inches of ice with an old bent 90 Sport fork. After 3 or 4 smacks, the ice broke and I got my parts out. Funny thing is, that bent unusable fork is straight again. Go figure.

Been watching it on the news, that polar vortex your getting over in the States looks pretty severe in some areas and I'm thinking it might be very bad for old folk and people with very little heating in their homes, transport must be a nightmare too.
You are getting snow and ice which is usually a feature over here in Scotland at this time of the year but so far all we have had is high winds an un-ending rain storms, it's fair to say it's the wettest winter I can ever remember and the stats will probably agree with that when they come out.

I'm up in the middle of all this and we call this normal. Since last week we have had below 0 as the high and at night its down to around -20 with a wind chill of -50 on a good day.people are going through auto shops in a hurry to get heaters pit in and to complain about how the cold is affecting the car. Its cold out nothing works right.

It was -8 here last night and today will only be a high of 3.  Saturday is suppose to be 44
Talk about fluctuating temperatures!

This cold weather reminds me of 20 years ago when I was assigned to a Canadian Air Force Base on exchange from the Navy.
A Canadian co-worker said it helped to warm up the automatic transmission on a car by having it in neutral instead of leaving it in park. I didn't think that would make a difference, anybody think differently?
