Hex bolt needed

I'm missing the hex bolt that secures the dynamo to the crankcase p/n 0111-0530, 5X30. Richard does not have these. It's the early JIS pitch, so a modern metric will not work. If worse comes to worse, I'll have to try to locate a JIS die, and turn down a larger bolt to size. Anyone out there have an extra? Thanks.

      JIS 5mm x 0.9mm pitch dies are readily available on the internet. I have rethreaded standard ISO bolts before now. Ok, not the best engineering solution and you lose a few threads but they work just fine.

      Will also allow you to clean up other 5mm bolts/screws and to recut current Mikuni pilot jets so they fit our older carbs. Worth getting a matching tap while you're online, they are not expensive.

  For those that don't know, also notice the last 4 digits of the part number give you the bolt diameter and length.

Why wouldn't you just retap it for the new thread pitch?

Retapping for a different pitch cuts out nearly 50% of the thread surface when you're done. That's not the safest thing for good bolt retention, but it's the aluminum case that will lose it's threads. If it's the steel bolt, the stronger material is less likely to give way when tightened.

I have a few bolts that are M5 x 0.9 thread but not the exact match due to the chrome head. They must be off some switch gear / cosmetic area ? Saves you having to look for taps / dies and leaves the engine casing as original. Could be used to tie you over till the right bolt appears ?
