1967 Hurricane Scrambler
« on: October 16, 2013, 11:38:39 AM »
I have restored a HS 175 and it runs well. I replaced the needles and seats, but the machine still leaks fuel. I checked the float height and they were a little high, but not a ridiculous amount. They are 4 mm too high. I have also rebuild the petcock. Has anyone seen this issue?  ???

hi     if i read yor post correct an you say your float level is 4mm over spec , then yes your float level has a lot to do with your fuel over flow , especialy if you have it sitting on the side stand , or even moving down the road , fuel levels too high can sometimes create a vacum affect from the over flow tubes while you are riding , have had this to happen on several bikes brought in for service , the old honda 750 k -models , kawasaki ke100  so on ,   william

Solved: Well for now anyways. The fuel was acutally leaking from the float bowl mating surface not the overflow. I inspected the float bowls and found they are warped. I used a fuel rated sealant on the gasket until I can acquire some new bowls and gaskets.
