Ebay Pricing
« on: December 14, 2012, 06:00:17 PM »
Someone is currently parting out a 350 on eBay as I sit here and type this and I must say, his/her pricing has me scratching my head.  ???

Here are a couple examples that stand out to me.....

First you have a "hard to find" chain guard that basically just needs chroming and the starting price is $35.

On the other hand, there's a headlight bucket which also needs chroming as well as having a dent in it and it has an opening bid of $265.  :o

What am I missing here...(tongue in cheek)  ;D

He says no damage and clean chrome on the headlight shell. I guess the dents and rust don't count. Is that Ronald McDonald?

I would ask at least 395 for the chain guard.

Yup, his description is slightly misleading on that one.  ::)  Also, it's either Ronald or we found Waldo's brother!  ;D

Here's another pricing "tactic" I've seen recently that also has me baffled.....

There's a set of GTO mufflers up for auction that when originally listed had a starting price of $150 with a BIN of $300. The auction lasted a week and ended with no bids. It's then re-listed with the same BIN of $300 but the opening price is now moved up to $185.  ??? ??? ???

If nobody wanted them for $150, why would this person think people are going to jump in now that it's available for the special price of $185!!!  ::)

They are back up now for the 3rd time with the BIN @ $225 and starting bid @ $175.

His prices are all over the place.

Moonpup, what doesn't make sense to you doesn't have to make sense to me, or anybody can't make sense of something that don't make no sense in order to make sense of it. I agree.

Huh...that just doesn't make any sense. Now go back to your desk, take a seat and open your book to page 138.  ;D

Bottom line is, sellers on ebay can ask any price they want.

On the other hand, buyers can bid or not.  Its America.

When someone sells something, it may be a deal or not.

Lets not slam or bash others, as the free market will decide.

some ebay Sellers don't check other listings why would any one buy a second hand set of carbs for more than new ones .one 175 seller has extremely high prices on his second hand stock and has been advertised for years
