Title: Trippin' in L.A.? I'll Let You Decide!
Post by: moonpup on June 29, 2018, 10:46:51 PM
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/mcy/d/very-rare-1966-twin-dual-racer/6628912883.html

"There are only 40 known complete 1966 bridgestone 175cc twin dual racers around. The last bike sold for over $25,000 at a private sale. Auction would bring a lot more. This is a collectors bike that is hard to find and may never come accross again."

"2,000 original miles. Original key. Rotory/manual combo transmission. Original tires that never deflated from when bike was new. It is a 100% complete bike. Has original Velcro pipe clamps on all motor parts."

"Bridgestone was the company making tires and imported motorcycles to the US from 1963 to 1974. Their technology was Way ahead of its time. These are 175 cc 2 Stroke twins. Rare and very cool. 3 total available. $3000 each or if sold together $8000 for all 3."

Is the black one, possibly a factory prototype or very early  import that Rockford would have shown to dealers?

The ad says it's #00173 and if that's true... it's an early 175. However, read the "documentation" in the ad and then read this.....(see any similarities?)

https://www.bike-urious.com/rare-racer-1966-bridgestone-175-dual-twin/

Then on the old Jim Trader site there was a "The Rockford Motors History" that stated this....

"In late 1965 Rockford seen a need for a pure performance machine that could compete in American Dirt Track racing and persuaded the Bridgestone factory to build a 90 & 175 racer. The units were released in 1966 and was an immediate success and even winning the famed Daytona International race in 1966."

So I have no idea what's going on here. Like I said.... I'll let y'all decide!  popcorn

"Trippin' their balls off!"  Seller knows how to use the Internet.  They have a screen shot of the Jim Trader article in the add (without the photos).  It says the bike is in a Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Why is it on LA's Craigslist?  There was an add on eBay for it too.  That serial number would make it a 1965 not 66.  Looks fishy to me!  Steve

Damn, I missed this.  Otherwise I would have contacted the guy and buzz up to his house in my Bridgestone just to call BS on him.  Hahahaha.
