Gold GTR side cover?

Can any of you explain the gold GTR side cover that Swapmeetman has had for sale on Ebay?

Am I missing something with that color?  Were there other color replacement parts available?  If so, what other colors have you seen for the 350's.

It's probably for the 1971 Gold GTR's, although the gold looks more like the early GTO gold and not the darker GTR gold. But then, I've never seen a 71 GTR in person and for all I know, they could be the same color!

Looks like it has been re-painted at some time because of the lack of the '350' decal that covers the little rivet holes for earler models that have the side plate emblem. As far as my knowledge goes, i believe the GTR was only available in the Imperial Gold color for 1971. Bridgestone discountinued motorcycle manufacture with the Bridgestone name in March of 1971 so it was a smaller production manufactured for that year ( 3 months...although i do not know for sure if some were actually made in 1970 and sold/registered as 1971 models??.)

It does not appear to be the correct color gold to me, so thats why I asked.  I doubt it was repainted.  Maybe its looks different in person.

I guess we will never know.  Some of this information has gone to the grave with people.  We need to find some old timers who are still alive.
