your kidding hey.seeing i am in the need for one i just might put a $1000 bid on that right now! NOT! it just goes to prove how scarce these are and now there is a figure on hens teeth. it would pay  to buy a complete bike with a chain guard at least you would get other parts to go with it .

Ebay can get crazy some times.  I was once selling some NOS snowmobile parts that I had.  The very first set went for around $178 or so.  I could not believe it.  The next set went for $70 and then it was down hill from there.

All it takes is two bidders and a frenzy can take place.  Some people hate to lose!

The operative term here is NOS....translation "New Old Stock".
That may mean scuffs, dings, blemishes, unknowns, etc, ......but when someone claims a NOS part or parts, ya gotta remember we're generally discussing things made 35-45 years ago.
If you are a dealer, or individual, who had the foresight to buy distressed/bankrupt/miscellaneous inventory, and then had the means to sit on it for all that time, I'd say you can ask whatever you want for an item.
In most cases, this isn't fire sale, "get it out the door" parts for a seller of NOS parts.
Whoever is holding NOS parts of 35-45 years old Japanese bikes, is literally in the driver's seat.
If ya want what they have, you're gonna have to step up to the buyer's plate......and swing for all you are worth.
C'est la vie.

Regards,
Steve
