Title: 175 Chain & sporocket sizes
Post by: Sye on September 03, 2016, 01:31:41 PM
I've just received my chain and rear sprocket for the HS. For anyone struggling to find replacements here's the spec.

Chain: 428-108 links
Rear sprocket: 38 tooth 428 with an 80mm PCD

As far as I know these are the same for the DT and the HS, it's the front sprocket that is different?

now if we could find a sprocket from another popular Japanese bike with spares on wemoto that would be pretty handy :D

Mines 4 bolts and the above fits? Maybe later ones had a different carrier and six bolts?

That thought has crossed my mind. I will have a word with Wemoto at the October show, Stafford, to see if they would be interested in making parts for BS machines. Ie, Sprockets and also cables or clutch plates. Our speedo and rev counter cables are similar to those used on some early Kawasaki machines with the same end fittings. The overall number of BS machines in existence might be against us but nothing to lose.

Brian, what you need is a 38T 525 Pitch 6-hole with a 120mm PCD. I haven't looked yet but I'm sure someone must make one? Just the size of the centre hole needed.

Sorry for the confusion, that's the chain for the 350. The 200 takes a 428 pitch with 108 links.

whew,  :D
so far we at least have the same chain size,
but at least 2 different rear sprockets,
a 4 bolt  that looks like a rd100 and ybr125 sprockets are the same.
and a 6 bolt that looks like a Yamaha YZF-R 125  and mt125 would fit.

any one with a 175 or 200 have some thing different than a
4 bolt 80mm PCD or a
6 bolt 100mm PCD
??

According to the parts catalog, the change in rear sprockets from 4 to 6 hole occurred at S/N 16M, which means late 175's and all 200's had the 6 hole design. All were 38 teeth, except the 200RS had a 36 tooth sprocket and used a 106 link 428 chain instead of 108.

Does anyone know if the late 175/200 rear sprockets and wheels are interchangeable with the 350 parts?
