100TMX Engine Cylinder removal
« on: March 14, 2014, 05:53:44 PM »
HI,

I am currently restoring a 100TMX, and am in process of getting the engine torn down to go through it. Ive been having problems getting the cylinder off tho. In all the literature, (which pertains to the Bridgstone 90 usually) it mentions removing the 10mm hold down bolts for the engine. In the parts catalog it does not mention these bolts exist on the 100's.

I currently have the top 4 cylinder head nuts off and i am assuming that once the head is off the cylinder will come off as well. Wanted to get some expert advice first tho before I try anything to "unstick" the head. Engine turns over perfectly so only thing i can see holding it on is the packing gasket.

Thanks very much!

HI JAMES , REMOVE THE 4 CYCLINDER HEAD NUTS AN WASHERS , ONCE THESE ARE REMOVED YOU CAN REMOVE THE HEAD , THEN THE CYCLINDER , IF IT DOSE NOT LIFT OFF WITH A SLIGHT PLULL , THEN TRY TAPPING AROUND THE CYCLINDER WITH A DEAD BLOW OR RUBBER HAMMER WHILE LIFTING .THIS DONT WORK THEN PUT SOME PENITRATING OIL IN AN AROUND THE CYCLINDER STUDS , LET SOAK , CORRESION OCCURS BETWEEN CYCLINDER AN STUDS MAKING HARD FOR REMOVAL , THANKS WILLIAM ANDERSON
