i just want to see if this is normal before i do my head again .
the gtr blows a fair bit of a smoke on start up after sitting for a week or two is this normal ? have i missed something everything is new apart from pistons and rings but they are fine .could the 2 stroke oil continuously drip into the injection system if there was a air leak? maybe at the bango fittings there are no bubbles in the oil line . the smoke clears after 5-10 min .i know a stroker of this age has its faults maybe i am jusi being to pedantic

A couple of thoughts coxy, did you clean the check valves and I don't mean with compressed air which can damage them? An aerosol degreaser etc.
If your not already using synthetic oil try one.
My Kawasaki KH400 does the same, smokes like a good one on start up but lessons off when hot and after a run, gets less and less the more it's used. If you start it the following day I bet the smoke is a lot less.
I would think with a 20:1 mix it would smoke pretty good anyway, can't compare to mine yet as it's not running but when I had it running briefly it set off the smoke alarms. :)

That's pretty normal for a 2-stroke to smoke more when cold. IMO, the oil just doesn't get burned as well until the engine warms up as combustion temps will be down, plus the oil that was on the surfaces in the crankcase when it was shut off tends to puddle, then gets run through the combustion chamber not well atomized, so it doesn't burn very well in that state. Every 2-stroke I've ever had, had that trait.

Coxy, just don't inhale and you won't be guilty.
