6th gear removal
« on: March 12, 2015, 09:59:10 AM »
I've started to strip the gearbox shafts to inspect everything, but 6th gear on the input shaft won't budge. The drawing in the Service Manual shows a Woodruff key to prevent the gear rotating on the shaft, but there's no mention of the gear being installed with a press so I assume it's a sliding fit. Before I get the gear removed with a hydraulic press, can anyone confirm that it's a sliding fit- or at least should be, and not pressed or shrunk onto the shaft?
