Rear hub collar supporter thickness?
« on: August 31, 2016, 02:05:26 PM »
I wonder if someone can do me a favour please? I've discovered that someone with no mechanical aptitude decided to put some metal bearing shields in the rear hub as bearing spacers! I've tried without success to source replacements, part number 7115-8000.

I wonder if some kind soul could measure the thickness of one so that I can get some made or find an alternative?

Any help appreciated.

Not to point out the obvious - but apparently the rear hub has been taken apart previously? Any other signs of excessive wear, damage or other hanky panky? I have taken these apart before and it is pretty easy to damage them when removing the bearings in an "unconventional" manner.

I'm always paranoid when I discover someone has previously disassembled anything that I am working on - especially a Bridgestone.

Ill measure them up when i get home tonight Sye - I know I have a 175 hub completely apart..... somewhere.

You are quite right about other damage. It has been beaten to within an inch of it's life by someone and there is a poor weld repair too. All in all it's in a sorry state but I've already sourced a replacement hub, new bearings and seals. I just can't get hold of the spacers.

Thanks for the measurements offer. :-)

Sye - sorry to say but I do not have an disassembled hub. Apparently I already put it back together so I dont have the spacers to measure.

No problem, thanks anyway. I will just have to measure the recess depth from the snap ring and subtract the bearing depth. What's left should be the thickness of the shim?

I'd say this pretty much validates this discussion board and the need for folks to contribute what they have or know.

Another satisfied customer Mike.

Maybe I'm not seeing the same thing you guys are but that part number (7115 8000) is for collar supports for the front wheel.

The rear wheel collar supports are two different parts with two different part numbers.

He needs these for the 175 he's working on and they are used for both the front & back wheels on those bikes.

You are correct in that the 350's only use them on the front and have a different number for the back wheel.

On a side note, ol'Nancy (the eBay seller) is probably scratching her head and mumbling to herself.... "I've listed these dang things consistently for the last several years and now in the span of 3 days I've sold 20 of them....what the heck is going on!"   ;D  :D  ;D
