Can Anybody Confirm......
« on: August 25, 2014, 11:31:58 AM »
that the "crooked" kick start lever in the picture is indeed part # 2680-9010 and is the one used with the right shift conversion setup?

2680-9010 is listed in my newly acquired 1970 Parts Price List as R Starter Arm. The standard one, 2680-9000, is listed as Kick Starter Arm. And since you can only mount the kick starter on the left, I think your suspicion is correct.

It didn't come with a part number attached to it, I got the number like you did from another source. (service letter in my case) Was hoping someone has actually laid their eyes on one and could verify it. Couldn't find a reference pic of it anywhere.

wouldn't the 9010 suffix make it the kickstart for the GTO?

Too many times I've made the mistake of thinking that as well!  It's was also used on some "special" parts.

GTO owners need to be aware of items such as 350 rear brake cables & shift levers that have that same 9010 ending suffix, as those are also pieces for the right hand shift kit. The brake cable is especially waaaaay too long for the regular setup! (don't ask me how I know that  >:( )

Gene, swapmeetman has been selling the long cables for quite a while now, listing then as rear cables for the GTO. That's how I made my mistake. First seeing the part number ending in 9010 and secondly trusting that something being listed as for a GTO, was indeed for a GTO.

WRONG...   :o

Anyway, I informed him of the correct usage for that particular cable but I see they are still being listed and sold as GTO cables. Hence my warning to fellow GTO owners.  ;D
