Thanks for all the comments, I really enjoy reading them.  Very glad to see that everyone one is enjoying the color change as much as me.
Mike.  Wow!  I forgot that video even existed, and yes that is what I started with!

My wife would disagree with me, but that is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!  I had a red one in the day.  102 mph laying flat across the seat.

Here you go!.  It's parts number 20-0100 and 20-0105.  Both are n this page.  Works great and reasonably priced!

What a beautiful job. Will you ride it or trailer it?
I will be showing this one to Carman Vaughn on our next visit.
By the way if you plan on riding consider using an additional 4 teeth on rear sprocket. You will be astounded on increase in around town driveability as well as highway performance including use of 6th gear.

Hi Gootie
Where did you see or get a larger rear sprocket, being honest I haven't looked around as I got a new standard one off Richard but it certainly sounds like a thing I might want to do, top speed aint everything on an old bike  ::)

I haven't the slightest idea regarding sprocket suppliers. When I did have both a 175 and later a 350 I recall that my dealer, Carman Vaugn, could get them. Somebody involved in racing should have a modern day source. Add 4 or 5 teeth to the rear and then run with a buddy with the same size bike and be prepaired to be amazed. Be careful though, wheelies become more easily achieved.

If we can find a source, I'm in. Always wanted my 350 to speed up in 6th gear. ;D

Gents
The one flaw in the action of getting a little lower final drive ratio was the aftermarket sprockets I used were made of a metal that was soft and after a few thousand miles would show a widening of the apace between teeth. And yes a 350 with a responsive 6th gear is truly a joy.

I get the sprockets for my 175 racer from PBI sprockets thru Chris Products. They were pretty reasonable at one time, then the price of metals went up. I'm not sure if the 175/350 use the same chain size but I think the bolt pattern is the same for the sprockets (6 bolt). The part number from PBI is 0731-(number of teeth) 428 (chain size). They are made of 7075 T651 plate aluminum which is hard but lighter than steel. I don't have their contact info as I ordered them thru the shop I worked at.

Hi,

Nice thought about the GTR gearing. Sure, the standard gearing on the GTR is high and a real pain for town riding, but I just never thought of changing the sprocket. I put a Hurricane scrambler front sprocket on my Dual Twin and that made one hell of a difference to rideability, just one tooth lower ion the front. Must try the similar trick with my 350 (although I'm a bit too old and decrepit to do wheelies these days).

A thought on hole patterns - the bolt holes might be the same as the 175, but the central boss on the 350 hub is larger diameter, so you can't use a 175 sprocket on the big BS (the chain is larger anyway - the 175 uses the same chain size as the BS90!). Your best bet is to send the old 350 sprocket as a pattern.

Graham

I checked out PBI and Chris products on the web, but could not find anyting that would suggets they do custom work. I have also spent some tme trying to find an available replacement for the 350 sprocket with more teeth...can't find anything...
Paul, have you had sprockets fabricated by these companies? or were you able to use a stock item?
As Graham mentions, the rub is the size of the 350 center boss...
