BS 350 GTO Painted Tank vs. Chrome
« on: March 06, 2013, 05:47:02 PM »
I had decided to have my GTO gas tank re-chromed and painted
as it originally was. But that decision wasn't to be. The chromer I use
called and told me the tank was pitted to badly and he wouldn't recommend
chroming it. They sent it back to me.

I have given it to the painter and he is going to paint it the original sunshine
yellow color over pure gold and add the later version 350's black stripes.
(I know it won't be original. But I like the gold better than the white)

In the future I will send the chromer another 350 tank and have it chromed
and then paint it the same color as above.

When I get the tank back I'll post some pictures.

Randy

Hey Randy   IF You Find Painted Tanks They Are Never Very Rusty On The Outside  The Paint Protected Them Beter Than Crome   At Least Thats What I Found  Just Strip And Crome  Much Cheaper  GENE

I picked up the tank and side covers from the painter yesterday.

I am going to try to post a few pictures.

Since the tank couldn't be chromed I had it painted Imperial Gold.

It is still a work in progress.

Hey Randy.  I just checked out your new paint pictures.  That formula sure looks to be correct.  Do you think you could post some clear, up-close detailed pictures of the painted parts?  Thanks!
