Another Carburetor Question

OK, so the difference between the Mikuni VM17 and VM18 is that the main bore of the VM18 is bored out to 18mm. The VM17 being used on the 90Sport and the 175DT AND the VM18 being used for the 175HS, 200RS & 200SS (and some 100cc's.?). Are there any other differences in the way they're set up.? ..... Tim

Each size and model of Bridgestone uses its own size of Main Jets and Throttle cutaway and throttle needle position, so you cannot simply swap a carb directly from, say, a 90 Sport onto a Dual Twin without fitting the appropriate slide and mains and checking the clip position on the needle.

The pilot jets were the same size (17.5) on all Bridgestones except the 350GTR, and the float height and throttle needle was the same for all VM17/18 carbs.

The appropriate Workshop Technical Manual (or even the parts list) should give you the correct jet sizes etc. for your particular bike.

I'm almost sure I saw somewhere that the pilot jet (PJ) was 20.?? :-\
