Holy S(h)eat  :o     $1250 bucks !!
Does look like a PR cover. Just got new seat with it's original cover.
Comments,  Front collar should be padded
Original has slight hump in middle which strap sits behind. Strap is too far forward on that one.
The original covers really were beautifully fitted to base with all under seam material lying flat - no twists or cross overs which PR have.
Front and rear seams on top were also heat welded, must have cost a bomb to make.
On the downside, originals did split readily on the heat weld stripes.
At that price it should be perfect. >:( >:(

Moonpup.
Prices are generally higher in the UK. Might expect to pay £500 GBP,  $800 USD for a good quality full seat restoration. Not sure if they are able to handle a BS cover.
'Cool Retro Bike' seat restoration did feature in the VJMC magazine here in UK. This guy knows his stuff, does a brilliant restoration of original seat covers if they are in good enough condition.
I guess quality costs, maybe let down by the cover used although probably the best available commercially.

The Cool Retro Bike people, unless I'm mistaken, (i frequently am) had "restored" 350 Bridgestone seats on ebay a couple of years back.  Advertised as an exact copy for about $800 when the suede piece on the top instead of having the heat embossed seams was pleated.  This was before the Pit Replica seats came on the scene.  Still, $1250 seems like a lot to me and at that price they should be absolutely perfect.

On my present GTR restoration I just didn't have a seat to cover or even a foam to have copied, I had to import a poor seat just for the foam shape so that it could be copied here in the U.K., I already had a Pit-Replica cover.

Overall it cost about $450 and that includes having the P-R cover fitted at the same time as the foam was copied, oh yeah and the base blasted and powder coated by the same company. Nice job.

So with a few more photos and information I may have considered paying about $500 as I didn't have one.

My guesstimate was between $600 - $800 depending on how much they had to farm out. That said, for this kind of money, I'd want to examine it in person or at least have someone I trusted to check it out thoroughly.

I'm with you ziggy, I'd prefer to have the pan powdered coated.

I was just doing the math on the one I just had finished. (Thanks for the feederstock, Moonpup.) All in mine also cost about $450.

Coxy, white GTO's seat cover is #1 on my list of options when I get to that stage of my resto.

Now, to continue this discussion a little further, does anyone remember what the last NOS seat sold for? If one showed up today on eBay.... how much would you pay? Based on what people are paying for license backing plates, I'm afraid to ask this question!  ;D

I'm not certain I'd pay a a lot for a NOS seat. At least the pan and foam would be good, but 50 year old vinyl probably wouldn't last long if you were going to sit on it.  However, for a show bike...

I remember that seller Coxy. I also remember him mentioning a small tear or other defect in it that he had repaired. However like you, I can't remember what it sold for.  ???

I bought it and even I can't remember what I paid for it although around $650 seems to ring a bell...when I contacted him he wanted $1200 but at the time I thought it was way too much. So he decided to ebay it and that's about what it went for. However, I can confirm, the repair was first class, barely noticeable. Seems like a bargain compared with the 'Coolretrobikes' one  ;D
