Restoration of a barn find
« on: August 17, 2015, 11:12:18 AM »
This is my first of many dumb questions. I have a 1966 Bridgestone 90 that has sat in a barn for years. I would like to see if the engine runs before I start the restoration. Is this a bad idea? Or, should I just plan to rebuild the engine? The engine turns over--it's not stuck.

Thanx for any advice.

At a minimum, remove the head and observe the condition of the bore. If it looks good lube the cylinder at the bottom of the stroke (to be sure to lube as much of the cylinder wall as possible. If it is an oil injected model running premix to get it started is recommended. The more lube the better. Good luck.
