Where to get parts aside from Ebay??
« on: March 13, 2015, 10:39:16 AM »
Does anybody have a direct source to BS 175 parts?

I emailed the person who runs this site (richard?) with a parts list, and parts numbers over a month ago... along with a few follow ups.  I have yet to receive one response.  About a week into it, I called and the guy (richard?) told me to email him.

Any help would be appreciated.  I want to buy as much as I can from one person before piecing together some of the parts I need from Ebay.

Richard is the provider of this site and as just about anything you would need. I've never had a problem contacting him, ordering from him or getting parts from him.

I finally made contact with Richard! I've sent 4-5 emails over the past month and he never got them. After a phone call today,  parts are on the way.
Time to restore this old gal!

All email received as of early March has been answered , it you have sent an email and did not get a reply, please just resend it.
If you do not want too, I more than understand.

Also use my personal email address:  bsparts@aye.net   not the contact email through this site, as many of you know the
site is down often, with the email system down even more.   Please do not send non-ebay inquires through the ebay system

NOTE:  My phone number 812-944-1643 is a land line which does not received or send texts, many guys have been sending
inquires to my phone, which I do not receive.

Even through all this, it does take me time to sort through messages and check inventory to determine what I have.
BS is a hobby of mine, sorry to say my regular business come first, and pays for the BS sport which supplies this site
to all free of charge.

Thanks to you guys who understand.

What part of this are some of you failing to understand?

"BS is a hobby of mine, sorry to say my regular business come first, and pays for the BS sport which supplies this site to all free of charge."

If you're in a hurry, there ARE other vendors you can contact. There's Kevin @ Scrambler Cycle, swapmeetman on eBay, Certified Parts Corp.... yada, yada, yada

Take a little time to do some research and quit biting the hand that feeds you!  ::)

Mornin Richard,

I hope you don't mind me adding some of my thoughts to this thread ?

As some of you may know, I was a supplier of parts until I decided to downsize my life and sent Richard all my reproduction & NOS parts. I still support Richard on any reproduction stuff this BS group needs. We have become good friends even though we have never met in person.

Fact is guys ... if I counted the amount of times I went and dug out parts, took pics and sent costs .... only to hear ZIP back ... and got a dollar each time, I'd have a nice retirement package !... So you see there are always two sides to a story. This was one of the reasons, when deciding to downsize, the BS stuff had to go. To much of a distraction.

If anyone out there thinks they can do a better job of this, then why not take a trip over to Richard and offer to buy him out ?... "be careful what you wish for".

later .... ray

I agree, there are some unreliable 'customers' out there!  Some people have unrealistic expectations. I must say that I have always enjoyed a pleasant business relationship with both Richard and Ray O.

If Mr. Clark hadn't had the foresight to aquire the remaining inventory when Rockford motors closed its doors we would all be chasing our tails trying to find parts for these old girls. Most, if not all of the parts he salvaged at that time would have been sold for scrap.   Think a few hundred bucks fo a right carb cover is bad?  An awful lot of other parts necessary to keep these bikes on the road would be in that price range, if available at all.  Yes, it is aggravating when you try to contact someone and they don't get right back to you, but remember Mr. Clark is involved in more that just Bridgestones. He has other business dealings that I'm sure, take up a lot of time.  The time required to run just the Bridgestone parts business would scare me away from it.  When I have ordered parts and haven't heard back in a few weeks,  I go back to my sent email folder and hit send again.  Mr. Clark has always replied at some point and has always been more than curteous with me.

Richard, you might consider adding "(landline - no texts)" to your phone number in the parts link and in your signature.  I've had to do that when posting ads on Craigslist, etc. It's good advice to others on this forum when you place ads various places and include a landline phone number to add the disclaimer.  These days, many people use texting as a way to avoid direct contact or avoid getting no answer, voice mail, etc.  You never know how many sales opportunities you miss because of this.

On a side note - a friend of mine that does MC tire and suspension work as a side job has a cell phone and won't answer texts because he gets 40-50/day and just can't get to them all, so he just doesn't answer any.   :-\

My phones are setup to absolutely not receive text messages. If they don't have time for real communication then I am not interested in anything to do with them. My choice.

Scratching my head here? Whenever I have ever needed any parts which has been quite frequently I just picked up the phone and gave Richard a call, paid him and gosh darnit like magic my parts arrived in a couple days. I agree with Mike and both Ray's, if my phone ain't ringing with a real person holding a credit card you will get no response, just good business and nobody's time is wasted.

Just want to second the positive comments about Richard. I personally REALLY appreciate that there is a source (at all). If any of the rest of you recall the late 70's when Rockford was out of business and Richard/Ray were either not in business yet or not well known (no internet). Sourcing parts was impossible. So, as DL points out above this is a happy ending to what could have been a very grim story.

I'd say 90% of the members here are from the telephone generation. Ours was black with a rotary dial. I kind of miss it at age 47.

While the speed and simplicity of texting and email has become a necessary evil of commerce today, supplying a finite number of NOS Bridgestone parts to enthusiasts like the members of this board doesn't necessarily require such a structured format. Contrary to popular belief, Richard Clark doesn't make a living selling Bridgestone parts.

I certainly understand the frustration, however, you can always pick up the phone and call Richard and talk with him. A little bit of man to man conversation goes a long way in conflict resolution as opposed to posting on a message board.

Just my completely unsolicited 2 cents.
