I am mightily grateful to DM for the soap box positioning (and many other things for that matter)! Thanks for the reminder DL, but this does create a quandry. I was referring to the other DL (farmerdl), but could have meant you too!  Can't tell your DL's without a scorecard...lol ;D ??? ;D

I collect social security, and  am definitely from the black rotary phone generation.  Party lines and all that.  Used to have to wait for the neighbors to quit gossiping before I could call the veterinarian about a down cow.  Don't miss it at all. No smartphone, but I do text.  Mostly to my wife.  Have talked to Mr. Clark on the phone, and that is my preferred method of ordering parts.  A lot of times though it is more time efficient for me, and having personal experience with running to answer a phone when I'm busier than a cat covering...well you know, I would guess better for Mr. Clark also.

We have a landline and 2 cell phones. Unfortunately, our kids and grandkids communicate by text a lot, so it helps us keep track of what is going on in their lives. However, when dealing with buying/selling, I'm like you, I want to talk about it.  Putting a disclaimer about no texts in an ad helps insure you get more possible customers. Some people would text and when they don't get a response, just assume you were a jerk and go on to the next seller.

when communicating from oz I feel its better to order parts via email due to the time difference if I speak with someone in the states its very early in the morning around 0400-0500 depending on there time  zone and I forget things at that hour

I barely have a pulse at that hour! Let alone being able to carry on a conversation.  ::) ;D ::)
And I have always had good success with email exchanges.
