No longer a GTR owner.
« on: April 04, 2017, 12:28:54 PM »
Well all good things come to an end and my second GTR restoration is no exception, it's gone to a new owner and home rather than sitting in my garage and getting a dusting down and polish now and again. :'(

But I'll be on the lookout for another GTR project as long as any possible sellers aren't too greedy. ;)

Funny you should mention that. I may have a runner with a rebuilt engine coming up for sale very soon.

Not show condition but the engine has had everything done, crank, pistons, bearings, rings, seals and so-on.
Be nice - feel good

But you DID say "Green GTO". It just took you to get to the reply instead of the original post. You cant help it Mike - no big deal.

          Hi Lee,
Sure you will have got a good price for the GTR, she looks fabulous in the photo.
I would partly echo Moonpup's suggestion of a GTO next.               They do look good but are a pain to work on.             Those high pipes have to come off to do anything on the motor  :-\   ;)

With my GTO very near to being on the road, common sense says I should be reducing the GTR fleet. 2 complete machines in various stages of restoration and a spares bike which is really the dregs from other peoples restorations but a perfect frame and good wheels. Further details by request if and when you are ready.
             Brian.

FANTASTIC looking GTR.  I've had my 67 since 71 and did a restoration but not nearly as good as yours.  Good luck on your next project!!!  Harry

Hey Pup,               I'll concede that one (with asbestos type gloves) and also add the sump plug to your extensive list  ;D :D ;D

Try fine tuning the carbs by trial and error  :o ::) but it will be worth it in the end ( which is very close).            Brian.

Kudos Ziggy! I have several questions:

1. What did a jewel like that sell for?
2. How did you get that finish on the engine case?
3. Are the handlebars GTR original?

Hey Bob,

This was my second GTR restoration, the first one I sold for £10k, they are a little more common now with more being imported from the States with people thinking they can make a quick buck on them so I sold it to a friend who bought my Suzuki RE5M from me a few years ago for £7.5k just to move it on, it was worth more I know but a bird in the hand.

The finish on the engine cases is from a rattle can, Audi metallic silver, then a few coats of lacquer.

Yea the handlebars are original and have been re chromed.

Lee
