Has anyone taking the shocks apart?

Is there a way to take the front and rear shocks apart? Our test ones have become fairly mangled with no success. I want to be able to paint and maybe re-chrome them easier and replace seals/springs.
Any help would be appreciated.

not a whole lot came up during the search and are the 350 forks the same as 175? Is the chrome ring supposed to slide off?

Hi, Duckman,

The 350 forks are constructed in the same way as the 175/200 forks, although they are larger diameter and longer (so parts aren't interchangeable). The chrome seal holder will unscrew from the bottom tube in the same way as the 175  and the inner tube and bush should then slide out.

Thanks. I figured it out, I put a pipe wrench on it to break it lose, I will have to buy a better tool for the other ones. Does anyone know of a cheap place to get aluminum polished near MN? I found someone to powder-coat my stuff really cheap so I figured I'd go all out on the aluminum too.
