Barber's Vintage Days
« on: October 12, 2015, 01:19:47 PM »
Just got back from Barber's Vintage Day's. It was a 16 hour drive but well worth it.

I was amazed at Barber's Motorcycle Museum. There are over 700 motorcycles on display.
There was even a Bridgestone 175 in the mix. After talking to one of the people in charge
I was told they actually have 3 Bridgestone's. The 175 that is on display, a 175 SR, and a
350 GTO. The SR and the GTO are in storage.

The museum and race track are great!!!

The swap meet revealed Two Bridgestone items a 60 Sport in good condition that was sold for $800
and a tool kit for a BS 175 in fair condition that the vendor wanted $85.

The 60 was sold by the time I found it. But I don't think the tool kit was sold.

Larry Young and I meet and discussed Bridgestone with about a half dozen other BS'ers. A few are
on this site.

When I have more time I will post a few pictures including the BS 175 that is on display.

The museum was worth the drive!

Randy

Randy,

I arrived home mid-afternoon yesterday after a much shorter (340 miles) drive.  My wife and I really enjoyed meeting you and Larry on Saturday and the conversation was great!  We had found the BS60 Friday morning but didn't pursue it as it had no title.  We eventually made our way over to the VJMC location on the other side of the park and found a 350 GTR on display there.  I believe it's the one I've seen before...oil tank has never seen oil and the exhaust ends look brand new.  It was part of the exhibition to be judged so we managed to get our two votes in for "people's choice."

Hope the work on your racer's goes well.  Take care.

Rowland

Rowland,

It was great meeting you and your wife.

I hope you got to see the museum.

I didn't see any parts. But I am glad if someone
was lucky enough to get them.

Glad they had a Bridgestone  on display. Went there a few years ago and there were no B Stones on display. They had a Lilac though. It's a FANTASTIC museum.

My 175 racer was on display in the paddock from Thurs to Sun! Bike ran well, I was a bit slow. Finished 13th in 250 on Sat and 12th on Sun. Finished 18th in 200gp on Sat and 12th on Sun. GP200 had close to 40+ entries and 250 had around 25.

I'd like to know more. Didn't hear anything about an inventory.

If there was a BS parts inventory there, I didn't see it.  I'm still waiting to stumble on one of those at least once in my life.

I think we all would like to trip over one of those parts inventories. I bet they are stashed with the Sequoia GTO's.  ;D

From Mylaps imes, it looked like you did really well on Sunday in both races. A best lap of 2:06 in 200GP is pretty good.

It looks like Roper and Spargo were separated by .1 second, should have been exciting for the spectators.

Not bad, but I was turning that a few years ago. Front runners (Roper, Spargo) were turning 1:54-1:55's. Ralph Hudson and Denny P 1:57-1:58's. I heard the race between Roper and Spargo was pretty epic. I think I can run closer to 2 min but just couldn't put it together.

I just added a few photographs of Barber's Museum. Included is a couple of
the 175 HS that is on display. The write up on the bike is incorrect. But it
was great to see a Bridgestone on display. ( under Events)

Randy,

Thanks for the photo's, especially love the 175 HS, what a class act to represent our passion, its certainly mine x2. Spoke with the co-pilot at length, sounds like a memorable time was had by all.

Hey BS'ers,

I'm sorry I missed the Barber event, especially since it is right in my backyard. I live in Birmingham just up the highway from this great museum. I'm still working on getting my BS Sport 60 up and running, but if any of you come back to Birmingham let me know. I'd love to ride or get a cup a coffee with you and learn more about motorcycles / Bridgestone / general knowledge and experience.
Thanks for stopping in the Magic City and keep us in mind for anything. It's a great city that is experiencing a revitalization right now.

Kindly,
Andrew
