Front Brake Stop Switch Perch Threads
« on: December 07, 2017, 08:21:26 PM »
I had a front brake lever perch on my 350 GTR that had the threaded hole for the stop switch, so I quickly purchased the switch and Moonpup's harness only to find the switch's fine thread did not fit my perch's course thread. The thread appears to be original on the perch. Also noted Moonpup's perch on ebay has no hole, only a boss for one. Can anyone shed some light on these variations?

Bob,

Here's a link to an earlier thread I started on the differences I observed on the front brake perches.   http://bridgestonemotorcycleparts.com/index.php?topic=4316.0

The perches I currently have on eBay are the replacement perches for the early GTR's that didn't come with front brake switches. They're almost identical to the perches for the 70 & 71 GTO's & GTR's with switches, but haven't been drilled out and tapped for the switch.

Below is a picture of one currently on eBay that is tapped out and you can clearly see the fine threads on this NOS example.

Not sure why yours would have coarser threading?

Thanks Mike. Looks like I either have a rare version 4 or someone, for unknown reasons, expertly machined a version 3 (blank boss), because the the boss was been spot faced and tapped with a course thread. This came off a '67-'68 bike. Anyways, my bike's a true replica, so a version 1 (no boss) is going back on. I'll save your harness for a planned, highly modified, rider in the future that will use the front brake light option.

Merry Christmas all!
