This is my first post to this site having recently purchased a couple of project bikes. This summer I picked up a 100 Sport and a Surfrider 50, both which are in need of repairs. The 100 runs but the 50 is seized up. I've decided to initially focus my attention on the 100 since I know it will run. I've been reading various posts on this site and I'm impressed by the membership's knowledge and willingness to help. I have limited experience working on bikes, mainly on several Honda 70's, so I'm looking for some assistance with a couple of questions. I'm sure I'll have more as I continue to work on the bikes.
My first question relates to the oil injection system on the 100 Sport. The side cover is presently off the bike and I noticed when I fill the oil injector canister with oil it is leaking where the hose connects to the union bolt by the engine. Is this normal and if not, how is it fixed? My second question involves obtaining the correct seat for the bike. Will other model seats work on this bike and where is the best place to purchase one?

Welcome to the site! The seats are hard to find in good condition. The 100 sport and 90 sport use the same seat. The other 90/100's have different seat positions (mounting brackets) and shape. There are a few people selling reproduction seat covers on eBay. This isn't the only seller. I've been watching eBay for good seats for about four years and have only seen two that were in good usable condition. Seat pans or bad ripped seats show up now and then. Good luck! Steve

Thanks Steve - I've been watching eBay and noticed the pickings were slim. Unfortunately, the bike did not come with the correct seat as the previous owner had rigged up a seat which looks like it belongs on a minibike. It's good to know that the 90 Sport seat will work on it. Do you know anyone I can talk to about the oil leak situation on my bike? I would like to get these two matters resolved before I move on to other things. Thanks again. Kotto

Is it leaking at the pump inlet? Are the check valves intact? Have you downloaded the parts/shop manuals from the "downloads" section? Sounds like you might be missing a check ball or its in backwards. Good luck, Steve

Steve - It's leaking where the hose connects to the engine. I'll download the shop manual to see if I can pinpoint the problem better. Do you know of any resource for finding someone who works on these bikes? I live west of Chicago but don't mind driving a little. Thanks again. Kotto

There are two hoses. One from the oil can to the pump, second short tube from pump to valve cover. Do you know which is leaking? There are 6mm aluminum gaskets two per union connector that might be bad or missing? (part number 09065-103) You could pre mix the 2 stroke oil and gas in the fuel tank and not use the oil injection system to get it running. Then figure out the oil injection. The pumps are pretty reliable, as far as I know. A pic of the problem area may help diagnose? Good luck, Steve

Steve - it's the long hose which runs from the oil can. There was some type of black sealant over the connection where it is leaking. I thought maybe the hose had a leak and someone made a quick repair. I cleaned off the substance and it doesn't appear to be the hose which is leaking. I'm going to take a closer look at it to see if a part is missing. I like your idea of mixing the oil and gas to get it running. Any idea what the ratio is? Thanks again for all your help. Kotto

If it's not the hose, then it has to one of the parts of the banjo connection to the pump; either the banjo itself (they are prone to cracking from old age), a missing or damaged aluminum washer or rubber o-ring. Check the parts manual for an exploded view.
