175 DT Seat
« on: November 19, 2015, 11:14:20 AM »
I completely disassembled the seat on my 175DT. I removed the decaying foam as delicately as possible to preserve it for future reference. It smelled so bad I had to put it in a trash bag and seal the end. I put the springs and other small parts in Evaporust. They came out great. I blasted the metal pan, primed it and painted it black.

I found there is a missing piece, which most likely wont be easy to replace. I posted a pic in the wanted section of this sites classifieds with my fingers crossed. Here is a pic as well - its the double looped piece that I need. Email me if you have one that your willing to part with (dcrhmc@gmail.com)

Last night I started deconstructing the foam pieces so I can make cardboard patterns for making new pieces. I'm pretty sure the outer "wrap" is 1/2" high density foam, but the first layer that goes on top of the seat itself is either 1/2" or 1". I cant really tell as the foam is in such bad shape. Anyone here know for sure what the foam thickness is?

I just purchased a 66 DT 175 and I don't plan to use the factory seat because I want to modify the bike to a brat style, so if you still need this spring let me know.
