Hello from Kingston, Ontario
« on: July 28, 2011, 09:52:18 AM »
My first motorcycle was a brand new Bridgestone 90 that my dad lent me the money to buy. I was just a teenager and my mom was really really mad at him. But it was the best thing my dad ever did for me.

Now that my kids are out of the house, I have started to restore what is left of my bike collection. BK (before kids), restoring old cars and bikes was my hobby. But I ended up selling most of the cars and bikes, actually, all the ones that were running and street worthy. That included a Triumph Bonny, Norton Commando (750), Ducati 900SS and my favorite, a Royal Enfield Interceptor. But I kept a Bultaco Metrella MK2, a 1978 Suzuki GS1000c and some Bridgestones - a 90cc just like my first one (it has zero original miles on it but it has been sitting for almost 50 years so it needs a full restore) and a couple of 350 GTRs, one that is together and all there but needs total restoration and one whose parts are all over the place.

My first job, which I am in the process of doing right now, is to get the GS1000 roadworthy because my son keeps taking my v-strom so I need another daily rider. I hope to have it done in a month or so, barring any complications.

I have done most of the body, frame, etc on the Bultaco so it is next, over the winter.

In a month or so I'll start sorting out the one 350 GTR with the intent of finishing it off this winter also.

We live out in the country and have a very large country kitchen/TV room/eating area with a ceramic tile floor. My dear wife has agreed to letting me use the kitchen table and a chunk of the other area to do the Bultaco and Bridgestones.

We will see how that works out when the rubber hits the road and I actually try and bring the parts in.

This site is a godsend and I look forward to being part of the Bridgestone community.

Working in the kitchen sounds great, but I'm sure my wife would complain about the smell before all the parts were brought in.

If she complains about the smell, just run them through the dishwasher to clean them up.   ;D

Good one Karl... I read that one aloud, laughed, and then my wife scowled.
