Replacing Carb boots - Questions
« on: August 23, 2016, 02:42:18 PM »
I am working on replacing my carb boots on the HS175.

First - I am assuming the easiest and correct way is to remove the cables from the carb - if this is not correct please let me know.

Second - Although I figured out how to remove the throttle cable - I cannot figure out how to remove the choke cable (carb starter wire) - see pic

I loosened the bottom nut to pull and remove the assembly - but it does not slide out?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

The plungers are notorious for becoming cruddy and lodged. Slide the shield up on the cable so you can move the nut away from the body exposing the plunger (cable will still be stuck in the plunger. Soaking with penetrating oil and gently turning the plunger with a straight screwdriver usually loosens things up. Be careful not to bend the brass plunger. On occasion I have had to blast these out. ;D

Got it!

For anyone else (noobs) looking to do this

Sprayed brake cleaner and moved the choke switch (starter switch) and it finally broke loose..

Looks - like pic #1

The throttle looks like pic #2
