instrument bulbs
« on: March 12, 2017, 09:52:07 PM »
I have some burned out instrument bulbs in one of my Mach II's. The manual states to replace with 12V-2W (2/ea) and 12V-3W (1/ea) and that is all I see the bulbs also.  Has anyone come up with the newer identification numbers for these bulbs, (i.e. 3894, or a 3216, or?). Also, has anyone found newer LED bulbs that will work in place of the old incandescents? Just thought I would ask to see if someone else had already come up with suitable replacements?
Thanks!

I found these LEDs as direct replacements for 175 Instrument Bulbs.

The Neutral and High-Beam indicators have a BA7s base:

Speedometer bulb has a BA9s base:

The BA7s (indicator) bulbs are plenty bright. The Speedo bulb (BA9s) could be brighter but it's fine for me - I choose the 120ยบ Cool White. There are lots of options but I wanted to be sure it was small enough to fit into the holder.

I've made several purchases from the vendor and the quality in excellent. Shipping was only $4.49.

Nice find,  should prove more durable than the standard bulbs and could save approx 1/2 amp drain on the battery when everything is switched on.       Not much.................. but it all counts with our marginal charging systems.

I'm so glad I grew up in the 60s & 70s. I did so much stupid stuff and there's no record of it.............Anywhere !!
